I have them and wouldn't be able to stand auto without..... If you wanting to go from 5th to 3rd ... To have to knock the selector over into MS and then up twice to downshift versus two quick taps on the paddle that almost instantly downshift to the right gear? No contest...the paddles are much nimbler and less cumbersome.

Of course nothing compares to a 6MT where you can select that precise gear you want, but the paddles make the absence tolerable.

I use them to downshift when braking often and approaching a situation where I know the exact gear I want (like an entrance ramp).

Plus, using the paddles isn't as conspicuous as the selector and you wont appear to be showing off as much to any passengers in your car. But if you like showing-off.........
