That young fellow is my oldest son, who was about 2 years old at the time, and is now 41. That bike was great. It was a 1973 R75/5. I sold it out of necessity before I came back to the USA from Germany in 1975.
Had a 6-gallon tank, got 42 mpg, would cruise all-day long at 80 mph. Of course it would cruise up around 95-100 mph too, which I did, but that got a little tiring on the neck muscles. Note: no fairing. It cost me $2,600 new in early 1974. My riding buddy had a 1974 R90/6, which had a little more top end than mine, but I stayed ahead of him from standing still up to my top end. Mine was looser and was the opposite of a lemon.
If I were to buy a bike now, which would probably be a stupid idea, I would want the R1200R.
