The chord lights on solid red when plugged in to the USB jack.
The "board" is green, in case you were curious.

Oh, my board is white and it works. If i had to guess i'd say that there was probably a huge bad batch somewhere along the line and thats what was all over ebay ect... The issue with amazon's reviews is that some people have bought the cord from different sellers and because of that some users may have gotten working ones and some may not. When i buy things on amazon i don't always believe the reviews. I always buy from amazon inc but on occasions i'll buy from users with fulfillment since its apart of amazon prime.
The seller i bought it from was good, but i cant say anything about the others.
