My $0.01 of contribution here is that using a scrap of super-sticky tape, like on the back of the HD Velcro fasteners or 3M trim tape, and pulling out, allows removal of the "Airbag" plastic symbol without any damage.
Now I'm having trouble just removing the cover. Do you need to push up when wiggling or pull out to the center of the car?
It "feels" like there are a couple of blind clips somewhere under the cover.
