Just got the Kensington LiquidAUX to use with the ipod in the console. The model posted above is a Bluetooth adapter. I got the ipod/iphone 3g model

The power connector clears the lid just fine and the included wireless remote (which you can remove from the cheesy steering wheel attachment) works well.
Holding down the pause button will shut off the ipod and the sound level/quality is better (obviously) than the FM transmitter I was using previously.
