He can easily take all the electronics off his current engine and stick it on top of the new one. I can't see why that would matter unless they added new electroics from the 06 model to the 08 model since their still the same body style.
If you have bad pistons you can use just the short block. If his engine needs valve work, he can swap the short block with the head ect...
Either way it'll be a very intensive swap.
