For anyone buying their car new and want the weight savings, the sunroof delete option is available when you order your car. No extra charge (and no money savings either). An aluminum roof is provided though, not CF.
I remember around 3-4 years ago seeing one of my mechanics doing the same thing to the roof of one of his e90 race cars, the other one he managed to find where the original owner specified no sunroof already.

Couldn't have done it without my good friends @ LTBMW. Not only I was abled to shave off few pounds but that CF roof looks amazing in person. Totally happy with it.
