Have you try pre-loading the drivetrain (e-brake) prior to the launch? If you do properly, it takes away so much of the initial shock to the t-case/ trans. It also allows you to launch at a higher rpm.
I did this in my evo anytime I was launching, and from 6k, I never had any issues.
