The wheels width does no matter so much beucase you can put same size tire on a 19x10 as you can on a 9.5. If anything the wider wheel will allow you to run a wider tire so a higher offset will look less tucked in to the wheel well.
I would suggest running a search on e90 wheels. You will see many members running e46 non-m offsets without spacers. Is usually works out to 19x9.5 et40 265/30/19. If you think that it looks too tucked on the e90 remember that the coupe will be tucked in 5mm more.
I personally think you should order wheels with the right specs and not run spacers. I have had very bad experience with them.
