No, lost for good. It was the reference to the OP being a rookie mistake. The guy who lost his finger was past 60. The machine had no brake dead stop and wound down ripping his tendon out as it went. When I was a first year apprentice long ago, I tried to remove coolant from a milling cutter with a rag so I could see better to take my first touch. I got caught and got such a bollocking I never put my hands near anything moving again.
