In the first pic below, I've flipped the inner ring over and you can see the bottom of both of the connectors. Remember, these connectors at the middle or inner ring will lead to the steering wheel wires.

In the second pic, I've used a screwdriver to ease the metal headers out of their plastic molding. I did this just by pressing down against the pointy tops of the metal pins with a screwdriver while at the same time pulling up on the plastic inner ring. The headers just slid right out.
