The S2k is one of the only cars I've driven where you really feel "connected" to the car and the road. I know it sounds cheezy, but that's really the only way I can describe it. comparatively, an E90 feels like it has 6 layers of insulation between you and the road. Not that it's necessarily bad, because I really like my E90 as a daily driver for that reason (quiet and comfortable).
I can see how the S2k can be a bit too raw for many people, especially if you have a long commute. If I didn't have a ~70 mile daily commute, I'd probably be driving an S2000 right now. If the weather is mostly nice where you live, and you don't have a very long commute, It may be just what you want.
