That's great if EGR is kept open and not physically removed!

Based on my life experience, I own a fleet of semi trucks with 07 Cummins ISX pre-emmision engines equipped with EGR valves. The valves have been disconnected and blocked at the intake manifold, that lead the EGR to stay and sometimes stock in the open position! The trucks ECMs where reflashed in a similar manner to remove the EGR from the programming. All this lead to a cooler running engine, increased power, response and better MPG. They've been running like that since the end of engine warranty around 3 years ago.

The difference however with new EPA08-10 truck engines including the BMW M57 is that the DPF and in latter the DEF is present and requires a different, more thorough approach to make this happen as the exhaust and dosing system is totally different then before.

I would love to hear more feedback on this EGR removal on M57 after a longer term driving.
