I would contrast that with my experience at VW when my wife's Touran had a failure of the ABS pump outside of warranty. Their goodwill gesture was 100% of parts and 50% of labour and that is what I would expect BMW to offer as a minimum.
Not very impressed with BMW on this one.

To be honest buddy - they didnt have to do anything (by the letter of the law) but glad I got somewhere with it. 50% of the cost is better than 100% of the cost - although I do take on board your points - not unusual to meet in the middle with things of this nature and as I am sure you can appreciate I just want to get it done rather than keep the debate going.
