I don't suppose you want to get a used BMW do you? They are reasonably fun and a 328 can be had in the price range you describe. I rented a Maxima at the airport once. It was reasonably fun and very roomy. If the car magazines are to be believed, a Ford Focus ST is a lot of fun and is in that price range and as new cars go, may be the most fun you can have for $20K-$25K.
