They will probably last one more autocross which is fine with me and then after that autocross (8/10) I want to swap them out for 255/40/ZR17 before my 8/23-24 NASA weekend and 8/27-28 days with the CCA.

I love the RE01R, they are the best tires I've ever driven on. However, the Direzzas are getting some attention and they are a good $60 less per tire. Does anyone have first hand experience with both? The money really isn't a problem if the RE01R will definitively perform better. Oh and just to clarify, by perform better I really care more about performance on the track. I'm sure both are worthy tires in an autocross setting but I need these tires for 6 more HPDE days this year.

Another thing is that I really really don't want to move to R Compounds yet. I would like to remain on street tires as long as I can manage, which I think waiting until next spring will suffice. At that time I'll also be moving up to 18" wheels so...for now I'm going to stick with street 17"s.

Let me know,
Dave
Most people are very pleased with the Direzza performance. I know they were on a 3-4 month national backorder about a month ago.
