The old ones yes, but I don't know if anyone can say that about the new electric water pumps. They don't seem to be too prevalent...yet.
Seems the 328's and 330's have them fail just as much as the 335's, so I don't think its a problem with being tuned. For the OP's case, very possible you just got a bad unit, or maybe another side issue that's causing it to work too hard and prematurely failing.
