There is a new thread on this phenomenon started about every two weeks or whenever a new area of North America gets a little bit of rain. There must be dozens of fully functional lights having been replaced because of this. I've had it on mine and, lo and behold, the lights continued to function and the fog/misting disappeared by the next day.
