B. The reason hand washes scratch the paint is because they use the same dirty soap water all day. In order for it not to scratch, they would need to constantly replace the soapy water and replace the cloths/ hand towels used to apply the soap. That would waste time and money..

I decided to let BMW wash my car, just to see if they were any good.
Car came out worse. It looked like they used a wet shammy and wiped the car with it.
Never again.
