Well 270 is limp mode if I recall.
Normal Oil cooled cars on this platform are 245 (give or take 10 fully warmed up). Thermostat is partially open at some point and fully open near ~238 approx.
Non oil cooled cars can exceed 260 fairly easily depending on conditions and how far they are pushed.
Some non oil cooled cars can get BMW to warranty a conversion if they hit limp mode enough (depends on dealer).

Evolution racewerks has a conversion kit for non oil cooled cars and an upgrade option along with it. (on my site). I would definitely recommend it for any non oil cooled cars.
