I've test-driven a couple of 328i manuals and would definitely say I could feel a difference. Not night and day by any means, but power seemed to build a little faster as you got into the mid-range. I didn't open them up so I can't compare at high RPM. The added power would be nice, but not remotely worth swapping cars for IMO.
