It's from a blog run by a guy by the name of Mark Wan.

Observation 8: at 433,000 units, the combined sales of Audi A4 and A5 has probably overtaken BMW 3-Series by now. Q5 is now its third best selling model. A1 is doing well at 123,000 units. Aging TT dropped below A7, while R8 remains rare at 2,241 units, i.e. only a tenth of Porsche 911.

Note: many people asked me how I get production/sales data. The answer is to read annual reports of manufacturers (like this), going through hundreds of pages and doing some calculation if necessary. There is no short-cut.
Granted it's not a grade A source, but this guy follows the auto industry with the enthusiasm of a 12 year old. I'm guessing even if the A4+A5 sales didn't surpass the 3er, it has come pretty close at least.
