Are you sure it's the caliper and not the handbrake mechanism?
I'd suggest the handbrake has seized and isn't releasing properly, or the rear shoes are disintegrating and the broken shoe lining is binding.
Had this on my e46, and something similar but not quite as bad on the wife's e93.
