Really surprised you consider the exhaust loud. I figure if the windows aren't shaking it's not too loud. And if they are then it's just right.
Pretty sure VANOS isn't rpm sensitive until the latency of the solenoids becomes a problem and I don't think that's within any reasonable rpm range.
