Wait a sec - at what point does VANOS go from asset to liability (rotational speed)? BMW's still uses ITBs on the high-revving motors. I wonder how fast a VANOS motor can spin before complications?

Uh... Vanos has no spinning components.. Theres no vanos "motor", it all runs on oil pressure.
