OK, so is there too much of a good thing?
We picked up our M3 in June; just got it back 2 weeks ago (another post goes into the saga).
In 10 days I racked up another 1300 miles (=2,600) on the M3 E92. I love it but it's crazy to do that many miles in an M, and mostly hwy commute. We have lived in Germany and driven TDiesels and like them a great deal.
So, decided to order a 335d as a back-up commuter car.
Specs:
Space / Chestnut / Aluminium
Sports pack / Paddles
Comfort access
iPod
Satellite / HD
Folding rear seats
Anti-theft
~ %51k
Getting a decent trade on a 540iT + some $k off.
I decided I wanted to save
some money, after dropping $70K on an M in the same year, so I didn't order the other expensive options: Nav / Premium. Of course I have all that on the M3.
Any thoughts that I am making a big mistake re specs? I suppose some will say the nav (re-sale) but after having had a nav system go out on a 540i w/ 69k on it - cost $3,200+ (!) I'm kinda burned on having too much tech. And the diesel should be good for 200k+.
Anyone seen this colour combo?
I worked out that by sharing these cars my avg mileage should come in at ~ 27 mpg (a lot better than 17!) And I can keep more miles for fun drives in the M3.
Whew, did not want to drop $125k on new cars this year but I guess we do choose to live in the country.
Cheers,
