I can only really remember seeing 1 X1 that I thought was ugly and that was a white one. I am pretty anti white cars though. There are 2 black ones on my street and both look great.
Masterplan. I think it's safe to say the issues with the Mini are not down to you. I've got a friend who owns an indie and he says they all rattle and have the same mechanical issues due to so many crappy Citroen/Peugeot parts in them. He still buys/takes them on trade though as he claims he could sell one to every girl that walks onto the forecourt.
