What advantage do I "think" it achieves? I know it helps prevent hot oil from coking up on the journal bearings in the turbos. When your motor stops, the oil stops circulating. Oil pump isn't electric like the water pump is.
Interesting, I didn't really think hot oil would leave residue as long as you're inside operating temp specs. Then again, I never really get into the top half of the gauge, so I'm not as concerned I guess
