In some other cars, the stock BOV is made out of cheap plastic and doesn't retain boost well, so people upgrade to an aftermarket BOV to help hold boost better so power is not lost prematurely. An aftermarket BOV is also used for those who has an N/A car and want to slap a turbo kit on their car.
