brake squeak/squeal

The best way to avoid the squeaks and the squeals is to put a thin layer of grease or lubricant on the back of your brake pads. Be careful not to get on the side that rubs against the rotor.

I believe there are other products that stop the squeaks from Bavarian Auto and other sites but I bought a cheap tube of Axle grease from Walmart years ago that I'm still going through. It is about the length of a tube of caulk and you just pop the top and take a Q-tip or scoop some with your fingers if you use gloves in the shop. Just a thin layer will help the metal/metal contact and eliminate the squealing.
