I have a 328i, which most will agree as the less troublesome compared to the 335i. But I've had e46 m3, which had often repairs, normal things. But that moment where you blast on the highway hearing the raspy exhaust and instant thrill of driving an m3 was great, it makes you forget about all the repairs/ maintenance. I don't know what your co workers are telling you about M cars. They are simply awesome.
