I just picked up an 06 325 with the steptronic. I've been driving manual cars since the late 80s and thought I was ready for a nice auto since I have another car for track events. After about 3 days, I realized I should have gotten the manual. There is a more "connected" feel with a manual transmission that is hard to explain unless you are really used to one. The car is very nice otherwise, but I do miss the extra sensitivity you have with the gas pedal, and hitting that perfect heal-toe downshift setting up a turn, and rolling back on the throttle mid-corner, and not having to wait for the automatic to make up its mind.
I'm kind of screwed now since I already bought the car, but if you are on the fence, make sure you can drive both for a while before you make your decision.
