While I am not 100% sure of the cause of the issue, I followed the directions that ESS sent today very carefully and was able to connect to the ecu and complete the process.
Let me also say that the stage 2 program RIPS. The car is awesomely fast! Aside from the little bump yesterday I am extremely happy.
