And yes, OP, a PPI is an excellent idea. Either a shop that knows BMWs well, or the dealer.
HPFP has a recall, 100K miles and I forget how long, but it will still be covered. I'm not sure if they will just automatically replace it at the dealer, or if it has to fail before they'll replace it.

You can get powertrain plus coverage with BMW Extended Vehicle Protection if you are outside of the original mfg's warranty period. Either 12/12, 24/24 or possibly also 36/36 depending on in-service date. Basically BMW won't let you go more than 7 years after in-service date. Will cost anywhere between $1500 and $2500.
Remember your turbo wastegates are covered 84mo/82K miles, which sort of covers turbos, but not completely.
