I think that the shock 'blow out' with lowered stiffer springs has to do with the 'speed' at which the shock moves. 1" shock movement with stiffer springs will be faster than stock springs and the internal valving can't keep up with the increased speed, and 'blow out'. The sport shocks can handle the faster shock travel speed.
