It is true that the intake tube I suggested is plastic. However, I find it unlikely that excessive heat will be an issue, but it is possible. The entire stock BMW intake system, beginning from the grill to the OEM air box to the OEM silencer and finally the OEM intake manifold, are all plastic. Additionally, the exhaust exits on the opposite side of the engine, opposite to the intake tube. I guess if I wanted to be sure I could wrap the intake tube with some exhaust wrap. What do you think?
