I just had a tire shop fit a 225 width tire on my 8.5 inch wide rim
(they mounted a front tire on the rear rim... standard tire is a 255
) That sucker was stretched like no other...
Not only that, they scratched the rim...
So Im getting a new 162 rim and my mounting and balancing (for 5 tires... 4 on the car and a spare) is coming free of charge
