Water pump failure and cost?
So I'm literally sitting off of I-95S in my car waiting for a tow truck. I was on my way to my folks in Virginia beach and got an engine temperature high error then engine overheated after about 87 miles on the highway. My car has 81,683 miles on it. This is my first time getting these errors and no signs of smoke. However I did see some coolant leaked out near the coolant reservoir. I was able to check if I had any coolant after letting it cool (of course) and it still had sufficient amount with the floating level stick. My car is running fine but this is my third attempt to drive the car and get the same error immediately. I think it may be my water pump. Do you guys have any recommendations of any Indy shops in Virginia Beach, VA? The BMW checkered flag dealership said about $1250 for a water pump replacement if that is the case here.
Any help would be appreciated.
