I rubbed mine down with 400 sand paper, then 800's, I then wiped them down with some surface cleaner and then just sprayed the paint straight on, as you have already "keyed" the paint there is no need for primer as your previous paint acts as the primer, then it's just spray base coat (colour) then a few coats of lacquer, I then rubbed them down with wet and dry starting with 1500, then 2000 then 3000 then a course polish, then a fine polish and hey presto job done!
