It claims on the box of a range up to 100m, but honestly I'm lucky to get 50ft outside. My father has one for his Nikon that he uses inside the house to take pictures of birds on feeders without spooking them.
The one you listed looks good and 2.4GHz should do the trick for range.
Something else you might want to look into is a timer remote. The one I have for my canon has settings for a delay before it starts taking photos, delay between photos, shutter speed, and number of photos to take. Great tools for night time long exposures and lightning photography.
