Wait, what? Partitioning your hard drive has nothing to do with RAM.... If you have 6GB of RAM and run 32-bit, you'll only get to use up to 4GB (in reality, somewhere between 3.25 and 3.75 for technical reasons), but you don't have remove extra RAM since it'll just go unused -- and you definitely don't have to partition your hard drive, unless of course you want to install 64-bit separately. But honestly if you want 64-bit to take advantage of the extra RAM, I'd just use a 32-bit VM for coding. Much easier than dual booting, especially if that's all you'll use the 32-bit environment for.
