If I were you, I would do my first oil change at 2000 km (following break-in period).
Other than BMW Performance Synthetic from the dealer, you can use Mobil1 0W40 or Castrol Syntec 0W30, these are all BMWLL01 approved. DO NOT use Castrol Syntec 5W30... it is not BMW LL01.
Since you are a canuck, you can also buy your filters (and any parts) from
