I've always said this about CA, it's the finest state in the union, were it not for its' inhabitants (you excluded of course
) Too many doo-gooders with too much time on their hands. But I agree, any outright ban like that would likely be grandfathered in. I'd love to see someone take an assault weapons ban to court re: 2nd amendment questions, i'd argue that from a textual/historical viewpoint, governments have absolutely zero constitutional standing to criminalize the ownership of those firearms for otherwise law abiding citizens. But that's just me.
