You've got it Mike. You do not get your deposit back, to all intents and purposes it is like having a long term rental car, you have absolutely no claim on it at all and neither is there any option to buy it at any stage. You do not even get the V5, the contract hire company is the named keeper. The Gap cover for my 640d was bought via the interner and was less than £100 which covered me for up to £15000 of cover ( I think they are the figures anyway).
