Not sure. I think the N54s (excluding the 1 series & DCT 335is) got the dual function paddles. The N55 all got the single function paddles.

If I'm on the highway & just click downshift, it goes M5. While the car is still in "D", it won't hold the gear as long as if I was in DS. If I just cruise around & don't hammer it, it'll usually switch back after 10-20 seconds (depends on driving behavior)
