Most of them consist of more primitive or innovative designs in directions that still challenge the driver with the road opposed to simplifying everything through a similar channel of innovation.
I guess something that would be a good example would be like the old TVR cars that aren't made anymore. Little to nothing slapped into them but everything was engineered around an engine and the feel of the road.
I could write for days about the various cars that exist out there that I think transcend the "pushing the barrier" mentality of simplicity for the track or generalizations for the driver, but I'd like to sit down and put a lot more effort into that.
