It's called a crank case breather it's about £40.00
Massively overlooked service item. I change mine every 40k it should not break as there's no moving parts but it becomes weak and stops working as it should.
It was 1 of the first things I changed in my 335d when I bought it. did it when the glow plug control unit was done. A lot change the oil feed pipe that goes into it as well that can block and yours being a high miler I would personally.
