I did a Lux install on an LCI E90 a few months ago.
I originally took the wheel well liners out but if I'm not mistaken I ended up doing the install from the engine bay with my spare hand wrapped around the back acting as a guide (where the wheel well would have been).
While the lenses don't need to come off or the headlights don't need to be removed, it will be a difficult job for anyone with large hands.
