I'm a smoker as well but I "quit" smoking in the car long time ago.
I don't know how to fix it but those guys who fix/refinish leathers for the dealership would have some better idea.
Contact your SA at BMW dealership and ask who they use to refinish the leather interior.
That's what I would do if it happened to me.
