As for tires contributing to bend wheel, i highly doubt it unless you are stretching it A LOT. A flushed tire will protect wheel better don't get me wrong but usually from curbing and not from bumps and pot holes.

Continental DW's are awesome. Great price for a great performing tire + excellent wet road handling and characteristics. But if you can afford the extra, get PSS, much better in every metric besides the wet (they are somewhat on par with PSS being maybe just a tad bit better). Good Luck!!
